The Chesapeake Area Shelter Team is the comunity of faith providing overnight winter shelter for the homeless in the city of Chesapeake. CAST launched on January 2, 2013.

how does it
all work?
Each scheduled week of CAST, there is one church location for homeless guests to receive overnight shelter, meals, resources and fellowship.
There is one intake site (off-site from church) where the homeless guests are cleared for the CAST program then transported by a CAST- arranged bus.
Police presence at the intake esures a safe enviornment, as well as, routine breathalyzer screening.
Homeless in their own cars are also welcome to the intake process and follow the bus to the host church.
Rules include: no drinking, no drugds, no weapons, no sex offenders (database checked), and smoking is a host church option.
